Our First Ranch Event
On Saturday Kim & Andy, on behalf of the Busch Family Foundation, welcomed Wine Club Members to their home at Folded Hills Ranch to benefit Storyteller’s Children Center.
Chef Mark created a menu that perfectly complemented the Grenache and Syrah wines. Scrumptious, handmade nibbles included caramelized onion, roasted fig and blue cheese crostini, organic tomato and goat cheese bruschetta, Morrocan spiced beef sliders, grilled lamb chimichurri skewers, and mini chocolate raspberry pavlovas (recipe).
New Scores & New Releases
The event included a tasting of all four of Folded Hills red wines.
We started with the Grant Grenache and August Red, which received two honorable scores from a recent national tasting. The Grant was awarded 91 points and the August 92 points by Wine & Spirits Magazine.
We officially released the Reserve Syrah and Reserve Grenache and poured tastes of each for the very first time! The grapes for these wines were grown just over the hill from us, in Ballard Canyon, an appellation with soil that is rich with limestone and creates extremely cellar worthy wines. Both wines are showing beautiful and complex characteristics and will continue to age gracefully for the next 5 to 15 years. These are limited production wines. The Syrah is extremely limited with only 90 cases having been made.
The Wine Club Fall shipment going out September 12th will include:
- Two bottles of Grant Grenache
- Two bottles of Ballard Canyon Reserve Grenache
- One bottle of August Red
- One bottle of Ballard Canyon Reserve Syrah

$10,000 Raised for Storyteller’s Children Center
Folded Hills merchandise was available for sale, and 100% of proceeds went directly to Storyteller’s Children Center. A total of $10,000 was raised, between the sales of Folded Hills merchandise and a donation from the Busch Family Foundation.
Storyteller’s Children Center helps homeless and at-risk toddlers prepare for kindergarten by providing therapeutic preschool and support services for their families. Thank you to all the members who donated to help this important cause.
